Course description:

The course is aimed at business students and those who want to improve their knowlegde on the basic elements of Project Management, and its importance in today’s businesses.  The course will cover the main terms and tools used in project management, its meaning and implications, and the basic working methods and processes used in modern Project Management. A special effort is made to link theory with business realities, by using examples and cases from the business sector.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this course, students should:

  1. Have the basic knowledge on the basic elements Project Managements and be able to position Project Management among other management tools
  2. Understand the importance of Project Management and be able to combine it with own work and projects
  3. Understand the capabilities a good Project Manager needs to have and make use of the benefits of group work in Project management
  4. Know the main software used in today’s Project Management and be able to use some of the main tools of Project Management
  5. Understand the importance of risk assessment and risk management in Project Management
  6. Be able to identify the main stakeholders of a project and understand their different role and importance.

Batch test 1 to 4 are a short examination on how well you pay attention to the lectures. When ever you finish listening to the group of lectures you must take these tests to be able to move over to the next set of lectures. Grade is submitted as soon as you have finished the chapter test.

The group project will be handed out in the on-campus seminar, which is on the 12th of February, at 12:35-15:10. After the seminar is over students work together through the internet to finish the assignment.

The individual assignment will be handed out in the first week of lectures. Students must work on it steadily through out this course. The project ends with a report, handed in by the students on the 25th of April, 2020.  

Lessons:

All lectures are uploaded in groups on to Moodle. To advance to the next group of lectures, students must finish the chapter test from the previous lectures.

Teaching material:
We will be using Trello (You can download it for free from here: https://trello.com/en/platforms (Links to an external site.)) to work on the individual project and the group project. We will also be using Microsoft Teams for communication between members in the group project.

There will be an instruction video on both these programs on Moodle.
